na śródmieściu trwa, gdy idę do siebie,
dziwny marsz: powietrze czuć mięsem,
płuca pompują dym w tysiąc nóg na obwodzie
– ciężki ruch, kiedy wszystko takie lepkie.
a chwilę temu to wzbierało jak krew
i rzeźbiło wyrwy w terenie;
to się wiło jak język, witało jak ręce
i myliło jak słuch. ale teraz już
zostaje tylko serce.

there’ a strange march: the air smells of meat,
lungs pump smoke into a thousand legs on the perimeter
˗ heavy motion, when everything’s so sticky.
and a moment ago it was welling up like blood
and carving holes in the surface;
it was wriggling like a tongue, shaking like hands
and misleading like hearing. but now what’s left
is the heart.
